Anchor

I’m Aaron Wright an Emmy-winning anchor and investigative reporter for KIRO 7 – you can catch me at 5, 6, and 11pm. I’ve been reporting for over 12 years and look forward to bringing you the day's most important stories every evening. 7 Questions With Aaron: Where did you grow up? Spartanburg, SC Why did you become a journalist? I believe good reporting has the power to change lives, I was watching MTV’s True Life at a way too young age and really wanted to share the truth with the world. We have the power to help people, speak truth to power, and make change in the world – who wouldn’t want to do that for a living? What cities have you worked in during your journalism career? Washington, DC; Rockford, IL; Knoxville, TN; San Antonio, TX What’s the most memorable story you’ve ever covered? Gatlinburg Wildfires – round-the-clock coverage of a wildfire that claimed 14 lives. Every day was a 12-hour shift working to cover the story and seeing firsthand how this fire devastated a community, the work to rebuild, and the spirit of giving that helped bring the town back. What are you most proud of in your career in news? I think it’s my ability to connect with people. We cover stories across all economic backgrounds, races, and religions and it’s important that people feel heard. I may not have walked in your shoes, but I can understand and want to share your story. What’s something people don’t know about you? I am deeply passionate about photography. My perfect day is walking around downtown Seattle taking photos of buildings and murals. I’ve done everything from fashion photography to weddings. What do you like to do when you’re not working? I’m a dad to two little girls, so every day is filled with swim lessons, ballet, ice skating and soccer. In between activities, meals, and naps, I love to watch football.
