WENATCHEE, Wash. — The Washington State Patrol (WSP) canceled an Endangered Missing Person Alert (EMPA) for two young children out of Wenatchee on Wednesday morning, confirming that the children had been located.
The children, a 3-year-old and a nearly-4-year-old, were last seen in Renton on April 4.
WSP says they believe the children were traveling with two adults, a man and a woman, both in their 40s. Their relationship to the adults is unknown, but the kids’ last names matched the man’s.
“This disappearance poses a credible threat to their health and safety as determined by the investigating agency,” WSP wrote.
Wenatchee police confirmed to KIRO 7 on Wednesday morning that the kids had both been found.
According to Wenatchee police, officers with the Kalama Police Department in southeastern Washington saw the car exiting I-5 South at around 8:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
Police did a registration check and saw that the car was linked to the EMPA.
Through “thorough investigation,” officers found the two kids and turned them over to Cowlitz County Child Protective Services.
