Man arrested after stealing shotgun from Bellingham Walmart

BELLINGHAM, Wash. — A man suspected of stealing a shotgun from the Bellingham Walmart on Wednesday was arrested.

Police said he also tried to steal the ammunition to go with the gun.

The man fled the store after grabbing the shotgun.

Bellingham police, with the help of a K-9 team, tracked down the man in the 4400 block of Hannegan by 6:30 p.m. Police said he tried to hide the shotgun, but it was recovered and the man was arrested.

No shots were fired and no one was injured.

The suspect was booked into jail for investigation of first-degree burglary, reckless endangerment, theft of a firearm, second-degree malicious mischief and obstructing.
