Police investigating after 1 killed, 6 injured in early morning crash in SoDo

SEATTLE — Police are investigating after a man died in a crash in Seattle’s SoDo neighborhood early Saturday morning.

Just after 1:30 a.m., officers responded to the intersection of 4th Avenue South and South Massachusetts Street, where they found the two vehicles involved in the crash.

Seattle Fire Department personnel responded to the scene and extricated a 27-year-old man from his vehicle.

The man, who police called a “suspect driver,” sustained life-threatening injuries in the collision. He was transported to Harborview Medical Center, where he later died.

The second car involved in the crash was a rideshare with six people inside, including the driver. They all sustained minor injuries and were transported to Harborview Medical Center for further evaluation.

The SPD Traffic Collision Squad responded to the scene and will lead the investigation into this case.
