Two attempted kidnappings in Seattle in less than two hours

SEATTLE — Two attempted kidnappings, roughly an hour and a half apart, have Seattle parents on edge.

The first incident happened Tuesday morning in North Seattle. Neighbors tell KIRO 7′s Lauren Donovan that around 11 a.m., they heard screams and ran outside. Court documents show a man was lurking on 45th Avenue Northeast in a black BMW. Authorities later identified the man as Nash Miller.

A probable cause statement details the terrifying encounter:

“Nash Miller … got out of the driver’s seat, opened the trunk, walked over and picked up a 10-year-old female. He put her in the trunk of the car and began to close the trunk door.”

According to the King County prosecutor, Miller punched the young girl in the stomach during the struggle. An Amazon driver and a babysitter rushed to her aid and pulled her out of the trunk before Miller sped off.

Authorities say they later tracked Miller down in Fremont and arrested him.

Seven miles away and 90 minutes later, there was a second attempted kidnapping at the intersection of Second Avenue and Madison Street.

Court documents show Dustin Timmer targeted a mother and her son. “Timmer physically tried to take control of the 7-year-old boy and pulled him away,” the document read.

The mom was able to yank him back, and Timmer then took off.

Timmer has already faced two felony charges in King County: one in 2013 and the other in 2020. He’s also had misdemeanors convictions in four different states, from Alaska to Nebraska. The last two times Timmer faced felonies, the court deemed him incompetent. Thursday, both Timmer and Miller will have their second court appearance.
