3-time convicted felon found hiding under deck in Thurston County

3-time convicted felon found hiding under deck in Thurston County Thurston County Sheriff's Office (Thurston County Sheriff's Office)

THURSTON COUNTY, Wash. — A Thurston County Sheriff K9 unit tried to pull over a driver in the West Olympia area for expired tabs on Saturday morning, but the driver sped off at over 100 miles per hour, the sheriff’s office posted on Facebook.

In dashcam video posted by the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO), the driver can be seen sliding off the road into a tree in a neighborhood near Evergreen State College, TSCO posted.

The man then ran on foot and the K9 named Igo, along with his handler, found the suspect hiding under a deck.

After the suspect refused to come out, K9 Igo was sent in and pulled him out from under the deck and deputies arrested him.

TCSO searched the suspect’s car and found a loaded .357 magnum inside.

He also had an active warrant for inappropriate communications with a minor and is a three-time convicted felon, TCSO said.

Pursuit, K9 Contact

PURSUIT FOR EXPIRED TABS LEADS TO CAPTURE OF ARMED CAREER CRIMINAL, FIREARM RECOVERY Early this morning, a citizen flagged down K9 Igo and his handler and advised them that there was an armed drug dealer driving around the West Olympia area. A short time later, K9 Igo and his handler tried to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle with tabs that expired in 2022, but the car fled. A pursuit was initiated, in which the driver fled at speeds of 100mph near Evergreen State College. The driver slid into a tree in a nearby neighborhood, at which point he fled on foot. K9 Igo found the driver hiding under a deck. Despite numerous K9 warnings to crawl out, the suspect refused and instead chose to ignore our commands and dig through his pockets and waistband. K9 Igo was deployed and extracted the suspect out from under the deck, at which point he was placed under arrest. A search warrant was executed on the car, which yielded a loaded .357 magnum. Because the suspect is a three time convicted felon in WA with significant criminal history in other states across the country, he isn’t supposed to be driving around with a gun. He also had an active warrant out of King County for communicating with a minor for immoral purposes. The suspect was treated for minor injuries from the dog bite and booked into TCSO jail for attempting to elude, unlawful possession of a firearm, and hit and run.
