76-year-old dies after truck crashes into light pole in Pierce County

A 76-year-old man died after his truck crashed into a light pole in a parking lot in Pierce County, according to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department.

On Tuesday, at approximately 10:47 a.m., multiple people reported a truck driving eastbound at a high rate of speed, crossing into westbound lanes near the 100 block of 112th Street East.

The vehicle then entered the ACE Hardware parking lot at a high rate of speed, hit a light pole, and spun out multiple times before coming to a stop.

Central Pierce Fire arrived and declared the male driver deceased.

There were no other occupants in the vehicle.
