AUBURN, Wash. — Auburn police are investigating a deadly shooting early Wednesday morning.
Police responded around 1:30 a.m. in the 500 block of 15th street northeast just east of Emerald Downs, where they found a woman shot in the passenger seat in a Ford truck.
The woman was in her 30s and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators tell KIRO 7 that two women were in a truck at Chevron gas station when the suspect approached the passenger side.
“There was a dispute that happened there with a suspect. The victim was in the passenger side of the vehicle the suspect then approached the passenger side, something happened, shots were fired,” said Auburn Police spokesperson Kolby Crossley.
The women then drove off before pulling into plaza near a Taco Bell and when police arrived they found the woman in the passenger seat had been shot.
“We discovered that there was one female in her 30s who was suffering from at least one gunshot wound,” said Crossley.
Police tell KIRO 7 this could have been attempted carjacking but are still investigating all possibilities. They are also still looking for the suspect, who ran from the scene after the shooting.
