Bonney Lake park to raise parking fines from $25 to $250

Parking fines at a park in Bonney Lake will be increasing from $25 to $250 after the Bonney Lake City Council passed an ordinance last week.

According to the ordinance, parking availability at Allan Yorke Park has been insufficient to meet demand and drivers have been parking along residential streets, sometimes blocking the driveways of homes.

There have also been incidents of drivers parking in lanes of traffic.

The ordinance will not alone create prohibited and restricted parking zones around the park, but violators will be fined $250, plus court costs, if any.

Drivers will have 15 days to respond to the fine, or they will be fined another $125. The previous failure to respond penalty was $25.

The new penalties take effect as soon as the city installs signs to inform the community of the change in fines.
