KIRKLAND, Wash. — A car fire on southbound Interstate 405 in Kirkland caused a 5-mile traffic backup during Tuesday’s morning commute.
The car burned along the shoulder of the highway just north of Northeast 85th Street, blocking the right three lanes of traffic.
Incident Response, State Patrol, and fire crews responded to the scene.
By 8 a.m., WSDOT shared that the traffic backup was about 5 miles long, mixed with the morning commute.
Drivers were told to continue to expect significant delays in the area.
