DOC prisoner who escaped custody at SEA Airport arrested

SEATAC, Wash. — A Department of Corrections (DOC) prisoner who escaped custody at the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport on Tuesday evening has been located and taken back into custody.

John Nino, 20, was arrested in Tacoma around 4 p.m. on Wednesday. The DOC said he was a passenger in a car that investigators spotted in King County and then followed to Tacoma.

He was arrested without incident.

Nino was on the fourth floor with two DOC officers when he escaped just before 8 p.m. on Tuesday. Port of Seattle officials say he ran to the light rail, then across the pedestrian bridge on the east side of the station, down toward International Boulevard.

According to the DOC, Nino was on community supervision for second-degree robbery. A warrant was issued for him in June after he failed to report for meetings with his community corrections officer.

He was arrested several days ago in New Mexico and was being returned to DOC custody in Washington when he escaped, the DOC said.
