A domestic violence call in Edmonds early Sunday morning resulted in the arrest of a 47-year-old man for manslaughter, according to police.
Officers responded to the 8800 block of 238th Street Southwest at about 2:50 a.m. after the suspect called 911 to report that his husband, a 34-year-old man, was having a violent mental health episode and breaking property.
The caller told police that earlier in the evening, he had used a neck restraint to calm his husband during a similar episode.
When the second episode happened hours later, he again used a neck restraint. Responding officers found the 34-year-old man dead on the floor.
After interviewing the suspect and evaluating the scene, officers developed probable cause to arrest him for first-degree manslaughter.
Detectives processed the crime scene, and the suspect was booked into the Snohomish County Jail.
The Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office will formally identify the victim and determine the cause of death after completing their examination.
