A 22-year-old Poulsbo man is facing a driving under the influence (DUI) charge after driving his car into Dyes Inlet at the Tracyton Boat Launch, according to the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO).
KCSO deputies responded to a call about a car in the water at 10:20 p.m. on Tuesday, January 7, and found the vehicle nearly submerged several yards from the boat ramp.
Authorities said they followed wet footprints on the pavement and found the driver, who was still soaking wet and smelled of alcohol.
The man admitted to drinking but told officers that he did not know where he was until he realized his feet were wet.
He also said he did not know how his car ended up in the inlet and that he could get out as the car was filled with water.
Central Kitsap Fire & Rescue also responded to the scene and launched a boat to check for any passengers but determined the driver was alone in the vehicle.
