Early morning fire at south Everett strip mall under investigation

EVERETT, Wash. — Fire investigators in Snohomish County are investigating an early morning fire at a strip mall in south Everett.

Just before 3:30 a.m. Sunday, a security guard called 911 to report smoke coming from the roof of a building at 100th Street Southwest and Evergreen Way, according to the Everett Fire Department.

Upon arriving at the scene, fire crews found a working fire in the attic space above the Toyama Sushi restaurant.

The fire extended into the Cricket Wireless store next door, but firefighters stopped the fire from spreading to further adjoining businesses.

Toyama Sushi and Cricket Wireless both suffered fire, smoke and water damage. Adjoining businesses were also impacted by smoke.

Crews with South County Fire also responded to the scene.

No injuries were reported.

A fire investigator was called to the scene and will investigate the origin of the fire. Initial findings indicate that it may have started in the attic area above Toyama Sushi.
