Emergency communications disrupted after its tower was burglarized in Snohomish County

Emergency Communication Tower burglarized (Snohomish County Sheriff's Office)

SNOHOMISH COUNTY, Wash. — Deputies arrested two suspected of burglarizing a Snohomish County 911 emergency communications tower north of Granite Falls.

Around 7:30 Wednesday morning, deputies from the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office answered calls of a burglary at a radio tower.

When deputies arrived, they spotted the suspect’s car leaving the scene.

When deputies tried to stop the car, the suspects ran away, deputies say.

A K9 unit was brought in to track the suspects and one was quickly found.

Deputies requested another K9 unit and helicopter support to find the other suspect.

Around 10:45 a.m., the second suspect was found but needed to be hoisted up because deputies were not able to arrest the suspect safely.

The suspect’s car was impounded while waiting for a search warrant and both suspects were booked into Snohomish County Jail.

Deputies said there were intermittent disruptions to emergency radio service but 9-1-1 service was not affected.

The investigation is ongoing.
