TACOMA, Wash. — The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) is working to re-open lanes on I-5 in Tacoma near S 84th Street due to a semi truck crash.

KIRO 7 observed what looked like a line of fire horizontally across the lanes of interstate on WSDOT cams.

The driver of the semi truck was pronounced dead, according to Washington State Patrol (WSP).

As of 8 a.m., all the lanes the northbound lanes are still closed.

As of 8:30 a.m., traffic is slowly started to make a headway on the southbound lanes, with two lanes reopened.

This is a developing story.
