4-year-old allegedly killed by mother experiencing behavioral health crisis in North Seattle

SEATTLE — A 4-year-old child was found dead Thursday afternoon inside a building on Roosevelt Way Northeast, according to Seattle police.

Officers responded to a call for a person who may have been experiencing thoughts of suicide inside an apartment on Roosevelt Way NE.

Police said she was experiencing a behavioral health crisis.

When police arrived, they found a child unresponsive inside the apartment.

Despite trying to save the child’s life, he succumbed to his injuries.

The 45-year-old woman was arrested without incident and was taken to Seattle Police Headquarters, where she will be interviewed by detectives.

Seattle police say the woman arrested was the child’s mother.

Police are still investigating the incident.
