Kent Police: Employee recently fired returns to business with gun, threatens others, found dead

KENT, Wash. — A man who was recently terminated from his job in Kent, returned to the business with a gun and threatened other employees on Thursday afternoon, the Kent Police Department (KPD) said in a release.

Police say they found the 55-year-old man inside a warehouse near 6600 South 216th Street, and it was reported he was carrying a gas can inside the business.

KPD says gunshots were fired, and multiple fires had been started inside the warehouse.

The man was reported to be non-compliant and continued to hold a gun at his side.

Police safely evacuated all employees and with heavy smoke filling the building, officers cleared out of the business as well, according to KPD.

Officers deployed a drone and found the man dead inside the warehouse, Kent police said.

Puget Sound Fire assisted in ventilating the building and the Valley Independent Investigation Team has been asked to investigate the incident, KPD posted on Facebook.
