Kent police officers and firefighters rescued a 22-year-old woman in crisis from a third-story window at a West Hill apartment complex last week.

Multiple people called 911, reporting that the woman was naked, yelling incoherently, and leaning out of her window.

When officers arrived, they found her still leaning dangerously far out of the window, shouting at bystanders, neighbors, children, and first responders.

Despite numerous attempts to de-escalate the situation, the woman continued to scream and eventually climbed fully onto the windowsill.

Concerned she might jump, firefighters secured a tarp below her while officers worked to convince her to return inside.

When verbal efforts failed, two officers entered her apartment with a key provided by her family.

Inside, they found the woman sitting on the windowsill, holding onto the blinds to support herself.

The officers quickly pulled her back to safety.

“She absolutely saved a life today,” said the officers’ sergeant, commending the swift teamwork between law enforcement, firefighters, and the woman’s family.

The woman was transported for medical evaluation and treatment.

First responders expressed hope that she will now receive the aid she needs to address the issues that led to the incident.

The Kent Police Department thanked neighbors, Puget Sound Fire, and the woman’s family for their cooperation and assistance in preventing a tragedy.
