Thousands march in ‘No Kings’ protests across western Washington

SEATTLE — Thousands of protesters marched through downtown Seattle on Saturday as part of the ‘No Kings’ demonstration against the Trump administration.

The protest began at Seattle Center with speeches and rallying calls, where Congresswoman Pramilla Jayapal called out President Donald Trump.

“He has politicized the entire Justice Department and uses the federal government to go after his political opponents on a revenge tour all while he accepts luxury jets from foreign countries.” Pramila Jayapal, the Democrat representing Washington said.

Organizers estimated that 90,000 people participated in the march, making it potentially larger than the two previous demonstrations against the White House this year.

“I’m here because we all deserve health care, because we deserve to not live under fascists,” said Jenna Starkey. “We should not be fighting Nazis right now. This is not normal. We are underreacting as a people.”

Jim Walsh, chair of the Washington State Republican Party, reacted on Twitter, calling Washington Democratic Governor Bob Ferguson a king.

“The ‘No Kings’ protests happening today in WA are organized & funded by a network of left-wing groups.” Walsh posted.

The ‘No Kings’ protest highlighted ongoing tensions and differing opinions on the current administration, with participants calling for unity and change.

“I hope more people just stand up and voice their opinion and support each other, you know? We’re all one people.” Trevor Opaleski said.
