One person dead, another hurt in shooting in Seattle

SEATTLE — The Seattle Police Department says one person is dead and another is hurt after a shooting Monday evening.

It happened around 9:40 p.m. at 12th Avenue South and South Lane Street in the Chinatown-International District.

According to the Seattle Police Department, arriving officers found a man who had been shot multiple times. Despite life-saving efforts from police and arriving Seattle Fire Department (SFD) crews, the man succumbed to his injuries and died.

Police say a second man had been shot in the leg. SFD took him to Harborview Medical Center in serious condition.

Officers asked everyone to avoid the area while they investigated.

SPD Homicide Unit detectives are still working on determining what led up to the shooting, and police have not said whether they’re searching for someone.
