Pedestrian killed in early Saturday morning collision in Seattle

Seattle police are investigating a fatal collision involving a pedestrian early Saturday morning on East Marginal Way South near South Orcas Street.

Officers responded to the scene just before 5:00 a.m. after receiving a report of a vehicle striking a pedestrian.

Despite life-saving efforts from officers and the Seattle Fire Department, the female pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators determined that the woman was walking in the lanes of traffic without a designated pedestrian crossing when a northbound sedan struck her.

The driver remained on scene and cooperated with authorities. A Drug Recognition Expert evaluated the driver and found no signs of impairment.

The circumstances leading to the collision remain under investigation.
