PARKLAND, Wash. — A 28-year-old was killed after getting hit by a car while crossing the street in Parkland around 7 p.m. on Monday.
According to Washington State Patrol (WSP), the Spanaway man was crossing Pacific Ave S at 126th Street S when he was hit by a vehicle heading south.
The vehicle spun out and ended up in the opposite lane and the driver drove off for a bit.
The 28-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. It does not appear that there are any crosswalks in that immediate area.
The 48-year-old driver from Ellensburg was found near the scene and was arrested.
He has been charged with hit-and-run, ignition interlock violation, and third-degree driving while license suspended and was booked into Pierce County Jail.
The road was closed to allow detectives to complete the investigation.
