RENTON, Wash. — The Renton Police Department says someone stabbed a person in the neck Sunday night near a popular bar.
It happened around 9:30 p.m. across the street from JP’s Barroom on Williams Avenue South.
Witnesses told police that the two appeared to be arguing, and things escalated.
Staff at JP’s Barroom said the victim ran across the street to their establishment, where staff got towels and worked to stop the blood while another called 911.
The 36-year-old was taken to the hospital and is undergoing surgery.
Renton police told KIRO 7 that a 41-year-old was arrested. Witnesses say he is a man experiencing homelessness who they see around Renton often.
The suspect also apparently had a tab open at the bar, which is how witnesses were able to identify him.
