We are seeing plenty of rainfall associated with an atmospheric river ahead of a sharp front that will move through the area this evening. So far, lowland rainfall totals have been generally in the 0.25-0.75″ range with more at the coast and in the mountains.
Areas that have seen lighter rain this afternoon, like the Seattle area, will see precipitation fill in early evening and it should be raining moderately to heavily at times through the mid evening hours until about midnight tonight. Further rainfall totals of 0.25″ to 0.75″ are expected.
It will also be breezy through the evening with wind gusts of 25-35mph, strongest near the water.
Rain will quickly end either side of midnight for inland locations around the I-5 corridor as the front passes. Behind the front, expect some spotty showers but also dry times into Saturday morning and it stays a little blustery.
Through the day Saturday, we’ll keep a few passing showers around in the forecast but also some breaks of sunshine, especially in the afternoon. With weak instability, there could be a few isolated lightning strikes in the North Cascades and around any convergence zone in the North Sound. Highs will be in the low to mid 70s.
Sunday will be nice with clouds and sun and highs in the mid 70s for Seattle, and this nice weather pattern continues through much of next week, though there are signs that we’ll have a warmup back possibly to 80 or warmer around next weekend.
