KIRO 7 has learned more about a police shooting that took place Friday near 3rd Avenue and Wall Street.
The Seattle Police Department says its officers shot at an alleged drug dealer who ran from them and pointed a gun at them not once - but twice.
It all started Friday afternoon when the department’s bike team was patrolling the Belltown neighborhood.
Officers say they spotted a man selling drugs. When they approached him, he took off running.
Police say at some point the man pulled out a handgun and pointed it at them, so they took cover and he ran off.
Officers ran after the man again and when he pointed the gun at them for a second time, the department says officers fired off several shots.
The man wasn’t hit but he dropped his gun and surrendered.
He’s being evaluated for unrelated chest pain.
The department told KIRO 7 that they have one witness who is cooperating with the investigation.
The Chief of Police says the man will face a ‘slew of charges.’
This is a developing story and will be updated when more information becomes available.
