EVERETT, Wash. — UPDATE: Around 6 p.m. Wednesday, the Everett Fire Department confirmed that the rescue mission had turned into a recovery effort.
Agencies continued to search for the boat and the three unaccounted people.

Everett Fire, Everett Police, and the U.S. Coast Guard spent Wednesday afternoon trying to rescue people from a sinking boat in Possession Sound.
The fire department says three people are missing. A good Samaritan rescued one man.
Crews are searching by boat and helicopter, with swimmers also searching the water.
Everett Fire says the boat took on water and ultimately sank northeast of Mukilteo.
There is no word on what caused the boat to take on water.
