Bus driver stabbed to death near UW, search underway for suspect

SEATTLE, Wash. — Seattle police are searching for a man who stabbed a King County Metro bus driver to death Wednesday morning near the University of Washington campus.

It happened at University Way Northeast.

Police say the two got into some kind of a fight before the man stabbed the driver and took off.

Officers say they have tried to track the man down with the help of a King County Sheriff’s Office K9 but haven’t had any luck.

The man they are looking for is about 6′1 and is wearing a blue jacket. He was last seen running northbound in an alley.

“This is a very dark and tragic day for our operator and his family, there have been many tears in our agency,” Elaine Porterfield with King County Metro told KIRO 7.

Detectives are now interviewing witnesses and looking for surveillance video in the area.

Porterfield said there are cameras on the buses and investigators have requested the footage to review it.

If you have any information about the incident or the suspect, call police.
