Seattle could have warmest start to October in nearly 30 years

SEATTLE — Seattle could see the warmest start to October in nearly 30 years, according to the National Weather Service.

Seattle has never recorded consecutive high temperatures of 80 degrees and up in October, but there’s a chance it could happen Sunday through Tuesday.

Current daily records and forecast temperatures:

Sunday forecast: 80°, record high 79°

Monday forecast: 79°, record high 80°

Tuesday forecast: 76°, record high 76°

“We could see (daily) record high temps on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday! Light offshore flow will develop into Monday, which could mean some areas of haze may move back in. That’s something we will continue to watch,” KIRO 7 Meteorologist Nick Allard said Thursday. “It looks like we’ll see sunshine at least through next Wednesday.”

More clouds move in later next week but right now, there is little sign of rainfall for the next seven to 10 days.

This year’s summer came with scorching temperatures that raised wildfire risk and broke record highs on some days.

On July 27 in Olympia, the 1998 high of 96 degrees was broken by one degree for a record high of 97.

On July 31, Seattle set records for most consecutive days of high temperatures. On that day, the temperature rose to 91 degrees by early afternoon, the record sixth straight day the mercury rose above 90.
