KIRO 7 is issuing a PinPoint Alert Day for Tuesday into Wednesday morning due to frigid windchills that could put temperatures in the teens and single-digit numbers in outlying areas.

The forecast is on track this afternoon, with increasing sunshine for the rest of the day and cool daytime highs with frigid overnight lows. It’s a relatively calm pattern with clearing this afternoon that will be with us for a couple of days. That means cool daytime highs and very cold overnight lows. Any wind will make our “real feel” or wind chill temps feel much colder. Possibly, depending on where you are, in the teens.

I do not think we’ll set record lows in Seattle. The record for tomorrow is 23 and Wednesday is 21. I have our overnight lows around 24-25 degrees, but with wind chill, and possibly some icy conditions or potentially some very patchy freezing fog, we decided to make it a PinPoint Alert Day. It’s for sure dangerous for the unhoused and the potential for frozen pipes is there.

There is a Cold Weather Advisory until Wednesday at 10 a.m.

The forecast looks mainly quiet for the first half of this week. The biggest concern to kick off this new work week is refreezing any surface moisture and freezing fog. These slick conditions and potential impacts to visibility could make the morning commute challenging. Overnight low temps will be in the upper-teens and lower-20s tomorrow and Wednesday morning. Highs in the afternoon will stay in the upper-30s and lower-40s.

Clouds will increase during the day on Thursday with dry weather until overnight. We should stay dry during the day with some wet snow showers possible overnight into early on Friday. There may be a few mix showers during the day, but highs will warm into the upper-30s and lower-40s.

We should see some wetter conditions this weekend, but with warmer temps, I expect we are talking rain and just rain! This will be good news for the mountains with plenty of snow falling around 2,000-2,500′ and higher.
