You’ll see rays, leopard sharks, a massive living coral reef and so much more at Seattle Aquarium’s new Ocean Pavilion when it opens on Seattle’s waterfront on August 29th.
Ocean Pavilion brings the remote, tropical waters of the Indio-Pacific Ocean closer than you’d ever think possible. You’ll walk among 3,500 animals and plants, including mangroves, a bow mouth guitar fish, and goat fish.
You may wonder why in the Pacific Northwest, this new exhibit focuses on a vibrant tropical world thousands of miles away. One of the goals the Seattle Aquarium set for Ocean Pavilion is to share the story of Earth’s one ocean and help visitors understand the connectedness of our underwater world. Because of this commitment to conservation and education, The Aquarium says the Ocean Pavilion was designed with sustainability in mind; building the exhibit to operate 100% fossil fuel-free and to recirculate 96% of the salt water in the habitats.
KIRO 7 is proud to sponsor the grand opening of Ocean Pavilion on August 29. Get your tickets now at seattleaquarium.org/tickets and watch exclusive, behind-the-scenes stories about Ocean Pavilion and the animals you’ll meet, below.
