SEATTLE, Wash. — Troopers with Washington State Patrol (WSP) say one person is in custody after shooting at a car on Interstate 5 in south Seattle.
It started around 2:20 p.m. Tuesday.
Troopers told KIRO 7 that the driver of a BMW shot at another car near S Columbian Way on I-5.
In response, troopers say the victim chased the suspect for another six miles in the southbound lanes. Both cars crashed on I-5 near Boeing Field.
The driver of the BMW was taken into custody.
No one was hurt, but traffic was backed up for several miles.
“We don’t want people to engage with other drivers, especially if they’re driving aggressively,” said Trooper Rick Johnson. “Let them go, call, give us everything you can, but don’t engage. We want people to obviously be safe and get to where they want to go without getting injured.”
WSP is investigating at least 12 freeway shootings in King County alone.
This is a developing story and will be updated when more information becomes available.
